Dietary supplements are products intended to enlarge your everyday admission of proteins, nutrients and minerals. They offer huge health benefits! Putting aside preworkouts and the likes, that are more focused on energy during workouts, most of them will compensate a lack in your daily nutrition. Others, likes SARMS will trigger specific fonctions or activity in your body to improve fat lost or muscle growth. here are the benefits of dietary supplements.
Specialized dietary supplements are generally more specific in their approach than your average shelf multivitamins. My approach is a bit simplistic, but in my head, there is 2 main categories of dietary supplements: general health and performance.
General health dietary supplements, like multivitamins and omega 3 will complete your nutrition and will make your body work at it’s best.
On the other hand, performance dietary supplements will be more objective focussed. A great example is pre-workout nutrition. In my case and in the case of many people at the gym, having the boost of energy and muscle nutrition provided in a pre-workout formula really helps get the most of your training sessions.
Since this site is dedicated to muscle growth, we will discuss the benefits of dietary supplements with that aspect in mind.
What are the benefits of dietary supplements for muscle growth?
No matter how much time you spend at the gym, all that training is worthless if you fuel yourself with crap. You need enough energy for your day and working out, you need a good intake in protein to maintain and grow your muscles and don’t want to be sore.
Why should you take supplements then?
If you are a sedentary person on a balanced diet and not looking to gain or loose weight, you should already have everything you need. If, on the other hand, you are trying to lose weight or gain muscle mass, diatary supplements can furnish you additional nutriments, proteins and vitamins to help your weight going the direction you want.
Multivitamins will provide some micronutrient that your body requires. But in most cases, they contain just modest quantities of everything.
One of the biggest source of demotivation is not seeing results. People those days want everything right now. And it’s totally understandable. Seeing results makes you want to grow your muscles bigger and bigger, keeps you motivated to eat well and hit the gym, grow bigger, eat well etc. The benefits of dietary supplements like Crazybulk will help you gain mass faster, lift heavier and stay motivated.
Complete your nutrition
I’m not a super vegan, but I try to implement more and more plant based food in my diet. I don’t want to start a debate here, but I just think plant based protein a leaner source than meat. Anyways, my point is that I don’t really calculate my protein intake, I don’t have that discipline, and a lot of people I worked out with don’t either. But I know my food enough to have a rough idea of what I eat. That being said, when I know I’m lacking protein for exemple, I just take a protein shake and voilà.
On a rule of thumb, you should eat 1 gram of protein per day of your target goal. Ex : you want to be 200 pounds, eat 200 grams of protein per day.
What are the ingredients
Dietary enhancements incorporate amino acids, BCAA’s, probiotics, herbals, botanicals and other extracts.
Some basic ingredients of the dietary supplement are:
- Amino acids
- Fish Oil
- Green Tea
- St. John’s wort
- Saw palmetto
Not all supplements are created equal, and it really important that you check the ingredients to make sure you are not allergic to some of them. Also, some people reacts differently. It’s a bit like coffee, I could drink 10 of them before bed and sleep like a baby.
My top recommendation so far is Crazybulk. They offer a wide range of supplements for those serious about their muscles.

I’m your supplement guinea pig! I’ve been working out from 1999 to 2004 until I got involved into a motorcycle accident. Even if I have a certification in fitness, I prefer to consider myself a self learner. I’ve started working out about 10 years ago but the leg that took the hit in 2004 left me in a lot of pain and I kept quitting and coming back, with you guested it, poor results. I then discovered supplements, started small training in September 2019 after studying weight lifting and nutrition. I’ve reached the 1000lb club in 2020 and haven’t stop since. There is a lot of supplements on the market, some good, some bad, and some almost essential! My goal is to give you unbiased information, especially on supplements, their impacts on muscle building and share my experiences with you. More info about me here : My Stats So Far
